(4/19/2005) In my opinion there is only one type of politician worse than a Republican member of the U.S. Congress, and that is a Democrat member of Congress who votes with the Republicans on their fascist legislation. And the most fascist piece of legislation ever to be considered by Congress, in the last one hundred years, is the repeal of the estate tax. Sixteen Democrats in the House Of Representatives are listed as cosponsors on this estate tax legislation and all sixteen of these individuals should be walking around the halls of Congress with bags over their heads because they are all a bunch of two-face, BenedictArnold, shyster scumbags. Many people are confused about who pays the estate tax because of deliberate efforts by Bush and the GOP to manipulate people's perceptions about this tax, and all taxes for that matter. But the estate tax only kicks in for estates valued over $2 million dollars, and these estates are not subject to the top tax rate of 50% until estate values exceed $20 million dollars. Also, when an individual dies their estate passes to their spouse tax free; and that includes even the largest estates.

Therefore, less than 2% of the most wealthy families in the United States are subject to any estate tax. Also much of this wealth has never been taxed before because it is held trust funds, tax deferred investments, or other investments that allows taxes to be avoided or deferred. The estate tax also forces these wealthy families to decide between paying a lot of estate taxes to the government at their death, or giving a lot of their wealth away to charities before they die. Both of these choices act as incentives and encouragements that have been very health for our democracy, our government, our economy, our society, and our middle class. 

The first thing Bush did, after stealing the election in 2000, was pass legislation that repealed the estate tax. Since that time he has spent the largest portion of his time in office trying to make sure the repeal of the estate tax is made permanent. He has also been spending a lot of time robbing Medicare and trying to justify his corrupt plan to rob the Social Security system. But clearly repealing the estate tax for billionaires has always been at the very tip top of his fascist agenda, and he continues to lie about who will benefit from this fascist legislation.

Thanks to Republican legislation, starting during the Nixon and Reagan administrations and continuing through the current administration, our tax code has become highly regressive and the estate tax is the last truly progressive tax still on the books. All the other taxes, including SSI, income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, gas taxes, etc., are now all regressive taxes. What this means is that the wealthier you are the less you have to pay in taxes as a percentage of your income. Some people might argue that the income tax is still a progressive tax because of a graduated tax rate table, but the reality is that the extremely wealthy, mostly billionaires, have a number of tax avoidance options available to them in the tax code and almost all of them take advantage of these loopholes.

As a result of our highly regressive tax code billionaires pay a much smaller percentage of their income in taxes than does the average middle class worker. And the people in America who are paying the highest percentage of their income in taxes are self employed individuals who make around $90,000 a year.

Not only is this tax system unfair, it is destroying our democracy and concentrating our countries wealth and opportunity into the hands of a few mega wealthy families. Our democracy is about to become a perverse aristocracy and history shows us that those types of governments are very bad for 99.9% of the people. Those forms of government are often ruthless, cruel, and repressive. If we allow this to continue our society is going to start looking more and more like the society in Mexico, and I don't believe the American people what that outcome.

The solutions to this regressive tax problem are very simple and straight forward, and mostly involve undoing what the Republicans have done to the tax code. They include expanding the number of tax bracket, raising the top tax rates, closing some tax loopholes, and creating some new taxes on wealth, and especially extreme wealth in the form of real estate.

President Clinton and the Democrats in Congress did the first three things on my list without one Republican vote and we witnessed a huge turn around in the federal government budget. The budget went from huge historic deficits to huge historic surpluses. However, as soon as Bush got into office his reversed all Clinton's tax increases and passed several new tax cuts for billionaires. As a result, we now have the largest deficits in our country's history and they appear to be growing out of control.

All this new American government debt is being purchased by China, Japan, and some other off shore tax shelter banks and it is costing the American people, mostly middle class workers, $1 billion dollars every day 365 days a year. And that is just to pay the interest cost on the current debt. The natural laws of supply and demand tell us that all this new debt will eventually force interest rates up and when that happens our government is going to be in real fiscal trouble.

We are rapidly approaching a time when it will be necessary for our government to begin liquidating it's assets in order to pay the interest cost on the federal debt. These trillions of dollars in government assets really belong to the American people, and if they continue to be looted and stolen by these ugly greedy evil politicians it will be the middle class American people who will pay the highest price and who will suffer the most. Despite these looming fiscal dangers Bush continues to call for more tax cuts and more spending increases.

Bush and his Republican pals are robbing our government and destroying our democracy, and they have tricked a large portion of our population into believing they are looking out for their best interest. The Democrats who are voting with the Republicans on this treasonous legislation are worse than the Republicans because they are infiltrators, Benedict Arnolds, frauds, and con-men who have betrayed their own party's ideology in exchange for some difficult to quantify reasons. They are probably being promise a slice of the pie.

A good analogy to these Democrats is the middle class people in America who voted for Bush and consistently vote for Republicans because they believe the Republicans are conservatives, moral leaders, and good stewards over our economy when the reality repeatedly demonstrates that their legislation produces results that can be described as the opposite of a conservatism, the opposite of Christian religious values, and an economy that limps along and is being keep afloat on a mountain of new debt.

Most of the American people are still confused about who Bush really is, and what the Republican Party really stands for. However, most of us now know what to expect from Bush and the Republicans, it is the fascist sell out Democrats, pictured on the right, who are hurting the American people and really pissing me off.

Therefore, I would like to see these Democrats, who cosponsored this fascist piece of legislation, shamed and run out of office. Their support for repeal of the estate tax is reason enough for these people to be run out of office with a kick in the pants as the door is slammed behind them.

Please contact these individuals by phone, email, and letters to their offices and homes, and the homes and offices of their biggest financial contributors. Let them know that you think that their a bunch of rotten turncoats for supporting the repeal of the estate tax, and your want them out of office and out of any political leadership position in this country.
