Dear Joint Chiefs of Staff & Other
Military Officers,
Our federal government is under attack
from within and this attack is threatening our democratic republic and virtually all of
its citizens. Organized criminals have thoroughly infiltrated both our political parties
and they are robbing our government, undermining our democracy, subverting our laws,
manipulating our legal system, and cheating voters. As a result, the federal government is
in need of a military led intervention that will take control of our government until this
political corruption can be weeded out and corrective laws can be put into place to
prevent this type of infiltration corruption in the future.
Weak campaign finance laws has allowed a
small number of wealthy special interest groups -- organized criminals -- to take control
of our government through the two political parties. As a result of this infiltration our
country is losing ground to other countries in a number of important areas, including:
education, foreign trade, currency values, health care, technology, international
standing, and military readiness.
America's federal debt and trade deficit
appear to be skyrocketing out of control. America's higher educational institutions are
turning out graduates in science and engineering at less than one third of communist
China, and lower than most other industrialized countries. Our southern border is being
overrun with illegal immigrants and illegal drugs. Our military is stretched thin fighting
a prolonged war in Iraq for reasons that don't come close to equaling the cost in lives or
dollars. Government agencies have been staffed with political appointees who are
incompetent and who are undermining the agency they were hired to lead. Our economic
leaders have shifted our manufacturing companies overseas, their profits and wealth into
offshore tax havens, and our jobs to foreign workers.
The wealth of America has become highly
concentrated in hands of the the top 1% who now own over 95% of all the wealth in America.
This extreme wealth concentration is a danger to our democracy that has been echoed by
many famous Americans down through history, including: George Washington, Andrew Jackson,
Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kenneth Galbraith, Dwight D.
Eisenhower, Louis D. Brandeis, and many others.
So we are faced with an important
question; do we want to continue with our rewards based social order that is based on
ingenuity, hard work, and academic achievement where one set of laws applies to everyone,
or do we change to aristocracy social order based on inheritance wealth where laws are by
and for the very rich enforced against everyone else?
Our forefathers addressed this wealth
concentration danger in 1913 with the passage of the sixteenth amendment to the
constitution and the highly progressive tax legislation that followed, including an estate
tax. This legislation stopped the Robber Barons dead in their tracks. However, recent
administrations have changed the tax laws so that the tax system is no longer highly
progressive but is now highly regressive with the highest burden being on self-employed
individuals earning around $90,000 a year. And there is currently an effort underway, by
politicians in both parties, to push that tax burden down to lower income individuals with
a flat tax or national sales tax, and they want to completely repeal the estate tax.
The net effect of all this political
corruption, wealth concentration, and regressive tax policies will be the loss of our
democracy and the creation of a plutocracy ruled by an aristocracy. If these issues are
left un-addressed we will end up with a society similar to Mexico with a few people at the
top and almost everyone else at the bottom, and corruption throughout. The U.S. military
will be strung out across the globe fighting an invisible enemy called "terrorism, or
will be dismantled and replaced with private security forces hired by greedy and ruthless
men.
You can't blame self-made
multi-billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett for these new regressive tax
policies because both these men support an estate tax system in America. The people behind
these regressive tax policies are a bunch of inheritance rich rotten brats, and the people
who work for them building and protecting their wealth in exchange for a percentage. It is
these money managers, who include many of our past and present politicians, who are
lobbying for these backwards regressive tax policies. Should we follow the advise of
people who are the architects of their own fortunes like Gates and Buffett, or should we
follow the advise of people who inherited their fortunes and who have greedy, ruthless,
and corrupt politicians protecting their wealth?
Our current political leaders have
become far too corrupt and way too partisan to correctly address the inequities in the tax
laws, or any other laws. Therefore, I'm asking you, the military leaders of America, to
take control of our federal government until the political corruption, tax inequity
problems, and other issues can be fully address with a new constitution, new legislation,
and new political leadership.
There are also a number of other
problems in our country with health care, energy independence, environmental protections,
military readiness, corporate accountability, drug laws, Social Security, and tort laws
that could also be addressed at this same time. These issues could be dealt with much more
efficiently than is possible under the current corrupt partisan system, and with common
sense solutions that are sadly absent for our current political leader's list of choices.
A key solution, that is impossible in
our current political environment, is a one time tax on wealth using a highly progressive
tax schedule. This tax on wealth would fix the wealth concentration dangers we face while
preserving our economic growth. Such a tax should aim at reducing the ownership of the top
1% to no more than 25% of America's wealth.
This one time tax on wealth would
greatly increase the wealth of the federal government and give its new leaders proxy
(voting) control over most of the major corporations in America. This money could then be
used to payoff the national debt, repay the Social Security trust fund, fund more college
scholarships, rebuild critical infrastructure, fund environmental projects, buy back
important historic landmarks, and improve military readiness. This proxy control over
corporations could be used to re-establish America's manufacturing base, reduce corporate
debt, reduce unemployment, control executive compensation, and help turn our trade
deficits into trade surpluses.
Most of America's other current and
future problems could also be addressed through changes to the federal tax code. These
changes would encourage, or discourage, specific behaviors. For example, a $2 a gallon tax
on gasoline phased in over several years would encourage conservation and discourage
unnecessary waste. A tax cut for corporations would make U.S. goods more competitive in
the world market. A tax increase on inherited wealth would encourage charitable giving and
increase social mobility. A highly progressive income tax system would encourage the
creation of new inventions, new businesses, and new wealth. And this list could go on and
on.
This military led takeover of the
federal government and this renewal of progressive legislation will be met with
significant opposition from many individuals including the top 1% of income earners, our
political leaders, and the political appointees in the Justice Department, Treasury
Department, Secret Service, CIA, FBI, DEA, NSA, ATF, and a number of other government
organizations and lobbying firms.
Therefore, the first order of business
for the new military led government will be to take these elected and appointed
individuals into custody and hold them incommunicado until military appointees can be put
in charge of these organizations. Once these organization's assets and personnel can be
fully accounted for and brought into compliance with the rules of the new military led
government these individuals can be released, or exiled, depending on their level of past
corruption in the old government and current cooperation with the new government.
After the military has full control of
the federal government the rest is easy. The next major step will be to inform, educate,
and sell the American people on the military's plan for saving America's democracy.
Selling the American people on the need
to restore America to is founders egalitarian roots -- which include the right to life,
liberty, and property and a representative government of, by, and for the people -- will
be easy because most of the American people are hungry for this type of change.
The American people know they are being
conned, misled, cheated, robbed and played for fools by the current political leadership.
They know this corruption is the result of a campaign finance system gone bad and an elite
class that is taking advantage of this flaw. They can see the corruption in our federal
government and they feel the effects, but they currently feel completely powerless to do
anything about it. This idea is the answer to their prayers.
The American people want our soldiers
brought home from the pointless war in Iraq. They want conservative fiscal management of
federal government assets. They want a national health care system that is not run by
greedy insurance corporations. They want Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid improved
and fiscally secure for future generations. They want their children to receive college
education's without having to go deep into debt. They want trade policies that preserve
their high paying jobs and national security. They want to see global warming issued
address with aggressive federal legislation and enforcement. They want more than two
dichotomous choices when deciding who they want to lead them. They want politicians who
are free from rigid political party ideologies and fundraising pressures. They want an FDA
that protects them and that is not influenced by corporate or political interest. They
want a military that is cost effective, combat ready, and that highly values all its
soldiers lives before and after their service. They want accountability restored to the
federal government with campaign finance reforms, honest elections with paper audit
trails, and more openness. And this list could go on and on.
The American people want all these
changes but they have no clear path to achieve these goals, and that is why they need your
help.
The American people will understand, and
accept, the military's actions to overthrow the current federal government. The military
leaders who make this happen will be heroes, and not only to the American people but to
all the people of the world.
We are begging you, please help us save
America's democracy.
Sincerely,
