Michael Moore's documentary film, "Fahrenheit 911", was a very well done expose'
of the Bush administrations responsibility for the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the war in
Afghanistan, the failure to get Bin Laden, and the war in Iraq.
The film shows how a long-term, financially
rewarding relationship between the Bush family and the Saudi Royal family is possibly
behind a lot of Bush's sinister motivations and corrupt actions. The relationship is so
close that the idea of blaming the Saudis for anything, or even questioning the Saudis, is
out of the question as far as the Bushs are concerned. The fact that 15 of the 18
hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and that 30+ Saudis were allowed to leave the U.S. just
after 9/11 is not a problem for Bush, or his administration officials, since they were all
focused on a Unocal oil pipeline through Afghanistan, and Iraq's oil
fields.
The film exposes how Gore really won Florida, but
because of Bush's family's connections in Florida, and on the Supreme Court, he was able
to steal the election even though he lost the popular vote by over 500,000 votes. An
outraged public and angry Democratic party were barely even covered by the big media
corporations.
The film made clear that the reasons for
attacking Iraq were manufactured and sold to the American people by people who are
profiting from the war. The attack and war gave the Bush administration the excuses they
needed to scare the public, roll back civil liberties, give away big government
contracts, and run huge budget deficits.
The film shows the horror that this war has dealt to
the people of Iraq and America's soldiers. While our soldiers have been fighting, dying,
and having their limbs blown off Bush has cut their pay, cut their medical benefits, cuts
to veterans, and cuts in social services, while lavishing the rich with huge tax cuts and
running huge deficits. And he does not allow the media to show photographs of the killed
soldiers coffins being brought back home, and he does not attend any of their funerals.
Bush wants more of the same in Iraq
regardless of the cost in dollars and lives.
The film ends with a quote by George Orwell that
implies that fear, war, and patriotism are just tools that Bush and the GOP use to control
and manipulate the people, and hold on to power. It implies that Bush and the GOP are not
interested in what is best for America, but only what best for themselves and their very
rich close friends. Their ideology is greed and power, and America's democracy and the
American people's rights are their Damocles Sword.
