In a true democracy the government should work for the people, but in America cash is
king. We have lost our democracy and when we go to the polls in 2008 we will be voting for
people who are the products of one of the two money corrupted political parties. The
recent debates have shown that neither party has a presidential candidate who will be a
fearless hero willing to fight to restore our democracy, but they did expose the fact that
we still have two divisive political parties echoing the same half truths that their base
group of voters expect to hear. The Republican candidates want to cut taxes for the rich,
rebuild the military, end abortions, stop illegal immigration, and grow the economy. The
Democratic candidates want to reduce the cost of a college education, require everyone to
buy health insurance, toughen border security, threaten Iran, reduce the number of
abortions, and grow the economy.
There are real ideological differences between the two
parties but both parties have been corrupted by large campaign contributions and therefore
neither party is going to sell us a candidate who will take the positions necessary to
restore our democracy.
To restore democracy in America our elected leaders must be
willing to tax the people with the highest concentrations of wealth at a level equal to or
greater than the top marginal tax rates in 1960. Judge Louis D. Brandeis said: "We
can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands
of a few, but we can't have both." Wealth in America has become extremely
concentrated into the hands of the top 1% because of highly regressive tax law changes
passed during the Nixon, Reagan, and Bush administrations, and because of pork barrel
spending and other corrupt legislation. Now, the two political parties are financially
dependent on these mega wealthy families and that is why I say "cash is king"
and it is why I believe our great democracy has become a horrible plutocracy.
"The money powers prey
upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is
more despotic than a monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, and more selfish than
bureaucracy. It denounces as public enemies, all who question it's methods or throw light
upon it's crimes. I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the
Bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe.... corporations
have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money
powers of the country will endeavor to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices
of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is
destroyed."
Abraham Lincoln
Some people believe that if we elect leaders who will enforce
the Constitution we will have a stronger and safer country, but the sad reality is that
the walls of our democracy have already been breached and the enemies of democracy have
already shredded the Constitution. But all is not lost, our founding fathers gave us
another document we can turn to in this time of tyranny, the Declaration of Independence.
This document teaches us that freedom is not a gift that is bestowed but it is a condition
that we must fight to achieve and a value that we must be eternally vigilant to preserve.
"To
preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms..."
Richard Henry Lee
It is time for the American people to join forces and declare
their independence from the new king "cash". Not only do we have the Declaration
of Independence to guide us but we have constitutional legal precedents in the sixteenth
amendment to the Constitution. This amendment, passed in 1913, allowed Congress to create
a highly progressive tax system that including an estate tax. These laws were created so
that wealth could not become highly concentrated into the hands of a few successful
capitalist. Unfortunately, these laws have been perverted and made regressive by greedy
men who have taken advantage of a corrupt political system. If we cannot get our political
leaders to restore the tax laws that the sixteenth amendment intended we may need to
resort to the barbaric methods that are founding fathers used to win our independence from
King George -- through the barrel of a gun -- .
"We, the people are
the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution,
but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." Abraham Lincoln
However, before we start killing people we need to prove our
resolve and build a base of like minded people who will join the fight to win our
independence from the new oppressive monarchs who are undermining our democracy, robbing
our government, and manipulating the American people. We can do this with the following
three actions:
Boycotts: Boycotts are a way we can
start to fight back without having to stick our necks out. If we start boycotting the
businesses and products that are owned or controlled by the people who fund the criminal
political puppets in both parties our elected representatives will be forced to retreat
from their extremist ideology, otherwise, their backers will be isolated and their
businesses bankrupted. Following is a link to my list of boycott targets (see Boycott List). Please feel free to copy
and distribute this boycott list.
Lobbying: We can start fighting back
with the help of the U.S. military. Every American should read, print, sign (anonymously
is ok), and then mail a letter to our top military leaders asking them to help us save
America's democracy from the money corrupted right-wing extremist in both parties and the
greedy Robber Barons who fund their campaigns (see Sample Letter).
Education: We can fight back by
educating ourselves and others about what is really happening in our government, and what
we can do to repair our government. Everyone should start getting ready to fight the
organized criminals who are currently robbing our government, undermining our democracy,
manipulating the American people, and wasting our soldier's lives in Iraq by reading my
website articles and my free online book "FIGHT" (see "Fight Guide").
If these solutions don't work we can fight back using the
same method our founding fathers won our independence from the powerful monarchs, through
the barrel of a gun.
"They that can give up essential liberty to
purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin
Franklin
