Lottery games are just expensive gambling games targeted at poor
consumers. They make a tiny fractional percentage of the players
rich, they let a small percentage win a little bit of money back,
and everyone one else loses money. The real winners in the lottery
games are the gaming companies that provide the ticket generating
computers to retailers (5%), the printing companies that print the
scratch-off game cards (1%), state budgets (28%), retailers (5%),
and the IRS (25%).
Personally, I have never played the lottery and I never will. I know
statistically I have a much better chance of getting struck my
lightning than winning the big lottery jackpot. I consider the
lottery a volunteer tax paid by people who like playing a gambling
game, and I already pay enough taxes and have other free games to
play.
When George W. Bush was governor of Texas he sold the people of
Texas on the idea of having a lottery in Texas. He said the money
would be used for education. Instead, the money went into the
general fund and the general fund's budget surpluses were then given
away to wealthy property owners through two big tax cuts signed into
law by Bush. Don't be a sucker to corrupt politician's dirty tricks
designed to make their rich friends richer and you poorer.
Don't play any lottery games.
